Hello, I’m Bryan Barry.

By day, I’m an International Baccalaureate (IB) Design teacher, guiding middle schoolers through creative problem-solving in an ever-evolving tech world. By night, I’m a creative director, graphic designer, multimedia producer, and the maker behind Skullboi.

At its core, Skullboi is a space for connecting our ‘80s, ‘90s, and Y2K analog roots to help shape a better digital future. As a Xennial, I lived on the border of two eras: public school during the analog years, college during the internet boom, and an educational career during the rise of algorithmic social media and generative AI. Skullboi is a place to explore how that past shapes our present. I’m not anti-tech or anti-AI—as a Xennial, I was born to navigate both worlds. But as a maker, I believe creative expression must remain strictly human-led.

Visually, I’m driven by 1990s skate culture, ‘80s and ‘90s comics, Wizard and Nintendo Power magazines, and the design language of early VHS covers and CD spines—all paired with clean typography and a modern graphic sensibility. That aesthetic informs everything happening in this space: writing articles, creating micro-animations for playlists, designing and making keshi-style mini toys, recording podcasts, and compiling physical zines. Before starting any project, I ask myself: What is it about those last analog days that still resonates today?

My path to the classroom and multimedia wasn’t a straight line (an impossible route for this queer creator, anyway), but the thread pulling it all together has always been building community and creating spaces where people can stay curious. Before launching Skullboi, I spent years building a community as the founder, host, and producer of the Pink Milk podcast—a project embraced so deeply it was brought into official Star Wars canon. I’ve also spent over a decade in the creative trenches developing brand identities, custom merchandise, and immersive retail experiences for live events, comic cons, and local retail.

A Workshop, Not a Product

Skullboi is… always will be… completely unmonetized… algorithm-free and ad-free. It exists purely as a low-pressure space to share my creative work and inspiration.
